Job description

Overview

An exciting fixed‑term opportunity for an experienced registered Band 6 nurse, dual trained in contraception and sexual health, to join the Integrated Sexual Health Service at Camberwell Sexual Health Clinic. The service is busy and delivers Level 3 contraception and sexual health care. You will be a valued senior member of the nursing team providing autonomous nursing care to meet the sexual health and contraceptive needs of the patient population, including assessment, investigation, diagnosis and treatment for the individual patient group. You will work within a friendly multidisciplinary team, delivering high‑quality standards of care and providing clinical leadership within the nursing team.

You will be a clinical leader with excellent communication skills and a commitment to teamwork and patient‑centred care. The role is fixed term until 7 May 2026.

Responsibilities

• Provide autonomous nursing care to meet the sexual health and contraceptive needs of the patient population, including assessment, investigation, diagnosis and treatment for the individual patient group.
• Provide professional and clinical leadership within the nursing team.
• Support the Senior Charge Nurse and Nurse Practitioners in implementing a strategic development plan for nursing and nurse‑led services within the department.
• Act as a resource for nursing education and clinical development within the service.
• Be actively involved and supportive of Senior Nursing staff in the development and implementation of a programme of nursing audit and research within the department.

Qualifications and requirements

• Registered Band 6 nurse, dual trained in contraception and sexual health.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, drive, enthusiasm and commitment to make a difference for patients.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide inspirational leadership within nursing.
• Contraception and sexually transmitted infection (SDI) knowledge relevant to Level 3 sexual health care.
