Job summary

Specialist Area- Complex Obesity. To further develop, manage and co‑coordinate a community dietetic service for a defined specialist client group, Level 2 and Specialist Weight Management. Clinical work will involve working closely with an MDT comprising Medical, Nursing, Psychological, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Specialties. Team Leader duties will include operational management of a Level 2 team of specialist Dietitians and Health Care Support Workers, this role is shared with the Diabetes Specialist Team Leader making up the whole Chronic Conditions Management Community Service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is the lead clinician for:

Management and delivery of overall dietetic service to specialist weight management service including all stages of development, implementation and evaluation. Working in partnership with key stakeholders to enable delivery of the service objectives within the available resource.

To collaborate with the Psychologist in the design, delivery and evaluation of nutrition and dietetic component of group education courses that are evidence based, using education theories and to an appropriate level for the target audience. This may include:

  • Formal PowerPoint presentations to large groups face‑to‑face or virtually.
  • Informal teaching sessions with food models, activities and group work including patient group education sessions, tutorials.

Production of regular monitoring and evaluation reports for the Health Board, on service delivery including dietetic needs assessment, development, evaluation and financial performance.

Supervision of a team of highly specialist Dietitians working across Weight Management and Diabetes.

To develop and co‑coordinate the dietetic service for this area, undertaking research and audit to enable you to fully evaluate the continual effectiveness of the service.

Qualifications (Essential)

Attendance at relevant accredited courses/conferences to demonstrate postgraduate professional development.
