Overview

Job summary: A key role as specialist adult audiologist has arisen in the diverse Audiology Team at St George's NHS Hospital. The post holder will deliver clinics focused on adult audiology, including assessment and rehabilitation of patients who are audiologically complex or have additional learning needs. The post also supports initiatives to manage high demand (for example, adult hearing aid masterclasses for patients and their carers). There is the opportunity to develop skills in advanced diagnostics such as speech audiometry, non-routine immittance testing, electrophysiology and/or vestibular function testing.

The post holder will audit and develop/maintain adult hearing clinical protocols to ensure a high quality, effective service. An in-depth level of knowledge and experience of the relevant BSA and BAA protocols is required. The post holder will be the departmental designated health and safety coordinator and therefore should be a motivated individual with leadership qualities and a commitment to service excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver services at St George's Hospital and nearby satellite clinics.
  • Participate in research, service reviews and departmental audits in addition to contributing to the development of the audiology service.
  • Contribute to auditing and development/maintenance of adult hearing clinical protocols, ensuring knowledge of relevant BSA and BAA protocols.
  • Act as the departmental health and safety coordinator and provide leadership to support service excellence.
