Special Needs Teacher – Basildon

Protocol Education is proud to be working with a well-regarded special school in Basildon, supporting children and young people with a wide range of additional needs. We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Special Needs Teacher to join their team and help make a lasting difference.

About the role

As a Special Needs Teacher, you will:

  • Plan, deliver and adapt lessons to meet the individual needs of pupils with a variety of special educational needs, including autism (ASD), moderate learning difficulties (MLD), social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and severe and complex learning difficulties (SLD).
  • Create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists and other professionals to support holistic development.
  • Track and celebrate pupils’ progress, both academically and personally.
  • Inspire confidence, resilience and independence in every learner.
What we’re looking for
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) is essential.
  • Previous experience working with pupils who have severe and complex needs (SLD).
  • Strong understanding of SEN teaching strategies, including differentiated planning and alternative communication methods (PECS, Makaton, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
  • A creative, flexible and resilient approach.
