Job description
Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Nurse seeking to undertake an interesting and highly rewarding clinical leadership role.

The Special Needs School Nursing Team provides support to children and young people in 14 schools across Pennine, Central and West Lancashire. The Special Needs School Nurses work with schools where the children have additional and/or complex medical needs, supporting, advising, educating and training school staff, families and other health providers to ensure the health needs of children and young people with complex and additional health needs are met.

Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for the clinical leadership and management of 24 Senior Nurses, Nurses, Health Care Support Workers and Admin staff.
  • Co-ordinate resources to provide a range of care to children and young people.
  • Work in coproduction with families and Education staff to ensure high quality support to enable children and young people to attend school.
  • Deliver high-quality evidence-based service clinical care pathways utilising available resources in a safe and supportive manner when meeting the needs of CYP and their families.
  • Participate in relevant clinical networks across the Northwest, providing expert information and guidance to relevant bodies on complex nursing needs and trends.
  • Be responsible for clinical governance, quality improvement and performance management of the team.
  • Provide management supervision to team members and ensure opportunities for continuing professional development for staff.
  • Collaborate with the CYP Additional & Complex Needs Service Manager, Clinical Nurse Business Manager, Modern Matron and other Nurse Team Leaders to ensure clinical development and governance across all three teams.
  • Benefit from management and peer support with opportunities to work alongside specialists; participate in a robust induction plan and tailored personal development plan if required.
  • Be available to travel between community settings across Lancashire (car driver/ownership or access to a vehicle required).
Required qualifications and experience
  • Paediatric Nurse with extensive clinical skills and knowledge in delivering services in a school environment and/or children’s complex physical needs.
  • Experience in clinical leadership and management within community/nursing settings.
