This full-time role focuses on the strategic development of SEN policy, overseeing effective provision, and collaborating with various stakeholders to support students with SEN or disabilities. The ideal candidate will have Qualified Teacher status and a national award for SEN Coordination or a commitment to complete it within three years. A comprehensive DBS check will be required for the successful candidate.

Qualifications

  • Ability to evaluate funding effectiveness and propose improvements.

Job description

We are looking to recruit a Special Education Needs Coordinator for an award winning School in the Bridgwater area. The role is full time, Term time only.

The Special Education Needs Coordinator will determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision within the school. Be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability.

They will

  • Have a strategic overview of provision for pupils with SEN or a disability across the school, monitoring and reviewing the quality of provision
  • Contribute to the school self-evaluation, particularly with respect to provision for pupils with SEN or a disability
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of national and local initiatives that may affect the school’s policy and practice
  • Evaluate whether funding is being used effectively, and suggest changes to make use of funding more effective
  • Maintain an accurate SEND register and provision map
  • Work with early years providers, other schools, educational psychologists, health and social care professionals, and other external agencies
  • Qualified Teacher status
  • National award for SEN Coordination, or a willingness to complete within 3 years of appointment.
