Software Engineering Lead (Banking) – Central London (Hybrid) – Permanent
My FS Client requires an agile and versatile specialist and team manager with extensive hands‑on expertise in .Net/C# along with managing a hybrid tech stack involving applications in Microsoft SQL Server, Azure, etc.
Business Area
The role requires an experienced people manager and an individual that is comfortable working in close partnership with a variety of business stakeholders, globally. The head of the team will be expected to be very well versed in, and keep up to date with, a multitude of new technologies.
The role requires a thorough understanding of development and architecture best practice coupled with a good working knowledge of IT General Controls.
The position requires an understanding of banking products, pricing and risk and the ability to advise on the best technical solutions to facilitate them.
Position Description
- Managing a team of 15+ developers covering projects that enable us to launch new products and adapt to regulatory changes quickly.
- Advanced core development languages covering full stack – .Net, .Net Core, C#, Python and SQL.
- Key delivery owner for the EMEA region, working with Product Owners to deliver sound, well‑designed and technically advanced solutions to business users.
- Key escalation point and mentor for the Post‑trade Technology Services Development team.
- Design and develop new software, integrate with vendor systems, organise on‑call rota support and expand the established SDLC processes.
- Strong numerical and financial skills with the ability to interpret financial information and design and use financial models.
- Extensive leadership experience building successful, high‑performing development teams fully capable of supporting business stakeholders.
- Experience working in an Agile environment, delivering incremental consistent value to users at an agreed and published cadence.
- Experience and understanding of a Banking Environment, product range and associated opportunities and risks.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience managing end‑to‑end design, definition and delivery of technical solutions in line with strategic goals.
- Ability to handle communications at all levels from across the whole business, including Front Office.
- Hands‑on experience with automated testing frameworks, DevSecOps and CI/CD.
