Job summary

A market-leading Defence and Aerospace company is seeking a Software Engineer on a 12-month contract based in Bristol. This role involves designing and developing architectures for Command and Control, and creating next-generation Air Defence Systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, particularly in C++, with experience in Middleware, Real-Time Operating Systems, and knowledge of relevant coding standards. The position offers competitive pay of £65 per hour inside IR35.

Software Engineer

As the Software Engineer, you will be working alongside a market-leading Defence and Aerospace company who are constantly growing and developing. They are always looking to bring on new talents such as yourself and further develop your skills to enable you to grow within the company and industry!

You will be involved in:

• Hands-on continued design and development of Command and Control architectures, and the instantiations for future products.
• Develop solutions for the next generation of Air Defence Systems
• Developing evolving products whilst maintaining our enviable reputation for safety, performance, and dependability

Your skill set may include:

• A strong background in software engineering, its realisation and system wide impact
• Experience of working in C++
• Experience working across the entire software development process
• Experience in other languages such as Ada, QT
• Knowledge of DDS Middleware and Real Time Operating Systems
• Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00-55, DO-178C or IEC61508 and restricted coding standards such as MISRA C++
