Position Overview

We are looking for a Specialty Doctor or GP with a specialist interest in Paediatrics to undertake initial health assessments for children in care, including those with complex needs and those looked after (Looked After Children) or on a plan for adoption. The post is part of the Cambridgeshire Community Paediatric Team and offers opportunities for service improvement, teaching and research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake statutory looked‑after children health assessments, including those with complex healthcare needs.
  • Formulate comprehensive, individual healthcare plans.
  • Lead on relevant audits of service provision, including multi‑agency audits.
  • Support wider community paediatric work across Cambridgeshire, according to service needs and applicant expertise.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical and non‑clinical staff in health, education and social care.
  • Maintain professional development, participate in appraisal and KSF processes.
  • Observe strict confidentiality and data protection standards in line with the Trust Information Governance and Information Security policies.
  • Adhere to infection control policies, risk assessment and risk management processes.
  • Undertake mandatory training and other role‑relevant training as required.
  • Participate in clinical and other audits and emergency preparedness processes.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Current registration with the GMC; responsibility to maintain registration.
  • Qualification and clinical experience as a paediatrician, general practitioner, or other medical professional with proved interest and expertise in children in care assessments.
  • Evidence of ability to work flexible patterns where possible.
  • Willingness to undertake the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975 disclosure process.
  • Ability to undertake and adhere to NHS policies, including the Equal Opportunities Policy and Trust risk management procedures.
Remuneration and Conditions

Pay will be according to national NHS pay scales in line with experience, and this is a substantive post within our Trust.
