Job summary

A national highway authority in Maidstone is looking for a Site Supervisor to manage on-site construction assurance for essential maintenance projects. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in highway and construction roles, particularly on high-speed road networks. Responsibilities include quality oversight, compliance with health and safety regulations, and effective communication with project managers and supply-chain partners. Candidates must have relevant certifications and a valid driving licence.

Qualifications

• Proven highway/structures and maintenance/construction experience; experience on high-speed trunk road/motorway networks desirable.
• Sound knowledge of the DMRB, MCHW, Chapter 8, and CDM Regulations.
• CSCS Card holder; SSSTS or SMSTS certificate essential.
• Ability to execute tasks independently while working collaboratively and responding to management guidance.
• Computer literate – MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Driving licence with no more than 3 points.

Responsibilities

• Assure completion of planned works to agreed standards and report concerns to the Construction Assurance Manager.
• Ensure compliance with CDM, HSE, environmental legislation and discharge Principal Contractor duties.
• Provide project managers with regular feedback on scheme progress, risks, and design issues.
• Act as liaison among key supply-chain partners and coordinate the delivery programme.
• Represent the company's interests on site(s) and assure supplier performance.

Site Supervisor – Operations

National Highways has an excellent opportunity for a Site Supervisor in Operations. You will supervise site construction surveillance and assurance inspections, ensuring quality of works for major maintenance and improvement schemes across the South East region. The role is based at our Maidstone office and requires a valid driving licence with no more than 3 points.

• Assure completion of planned works to agreed standards and report concerns to the Construction Assurance Manager.
• Ensure compliance with CDM, HSE, environmental legislation and Chapter 8, and discharge Principal Contractor duties.
• Provide project managers with regular feedback on scheme progress, risks, early warnings and design issues; act as the primary escalation point for on‑site issues.
• Act as liaison among key supply‑chain partners and coordinate the delivery programme, ensuring build‑ability reviews are carried out.
• Represent National Highways interests on site(s), assure supplier performance, and maintain agreed standards.
