Location: Dover, Kent

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support delivery of ports and roads infrastructure works in Dover. This freelance role will involve setting out, quality control, and day-to-day site engineering activities on a busy, live operational environment, ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately, and to programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setting out for highways, port infrastructure, drainage, and associated civils works
  • Providing engineering support to site management and subcontractor teams
  • Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, and industry standards
  • Managing as-built records and assisting with RAMS and ITPs
  • Carrying out site surveys, checks, and measurements
  • Liaising with the main contractor, port authorities, local highways teams, and design consultants
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues on site
  • Monitoring quality and ensuring health, safety, and environmental standards are met at all times
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Site Engineer on ports, highways, or heavy civils projects
  • Strong setting-out experience using GPS / Total Station equipment
  • Good understanding of highways standards and civil engineering specifications
  • Ability to work in live operational environments
  • CSCS card (minimum requirement)
  • SMSTS or SSSTS desirable
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Full UK driving licence
