Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity has become available for a permanent band 6 sister/charge nurse to join our Acute Medical Unit (AMU). AMU is a busy and dynamic clinical environment, receiving patients from the Emergency Department and specialist clinics. By working on the Acute Medical Unit you will see patients with a wide variety of conditions and gain experience from many specialties.

We expect compassionate, energetic, reliable and flexible candidates with strong leadership skills and demonstrable post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting. You should be able to adapt to different situations and work the full range of shifts including long days and nights.

We pride ourselves on developing our staff and you will be supported by our Lead Education Senior Sister. This dedicated training support enables an excellent induction, support with re-validation and an ongoing training package. We have development pathways for different interests and a support network to help you achieve.

We would recommend attending an informal visit to the unit to meet the team.

The Acute Medical Unit is a 22-bed unit which includes 8 cardiac monitored spaces and works closely within the emergency pathway.

We are looking for a compassionate, dynamic, reliable and flexible nurse with the ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills and demonstrable post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting. You should have excellent clinical skills, knowledge and communication skills with exemplary standards of care. You should be innovative, capable of creating change and have a passion for acute medicine. You are expected to be a role model for the team and will motivate and inspire others to be the very best they can be.

We require a strong and visible leader to support the well-established band 6 team and Senior Sister, striving towards continued excellence of care for acutely unwell, vulnerable patients, while ensuring flow into and out of the department. Leadership experience is essential.
