Job summary

A dynamic logistics company is seeking a Shipping Administrator for their Global Shipping department in Desford. Shipping Administrator – Desford

We're looking for a Shipping Administrator to join our client's Global Shipping department in Desford to provide administrative support to the Shipping team, initially on a 12‑month contract which is likely to extend and be rolling for the right person!

Working Hours & Remuneration

37.5 hours a week: 7‑3 or 8‑4 Monday‑Thursday, 5½ hours with a 7am or 8am start on Friday. Up to £16.86 PAYE hourly rate plus holiday and pension contribution or umbrella hourly rates up to £23.09.

Location: Desford LE9, Onsite Role.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure freight invoices are only processed when the actual service has been provided.
  • Process freight invoices related to inbound/outbound material which fluctuates in line with production volumes.
  • Collate metrics, analysis and general administration related to freight invoices and shipping performance.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and completing 1PD's to support process improvements.
Qualifications
  • At least a year's experience in a similar administration role within transportation accounting background.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Incoterms and freight terms.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office applications including Excel, Access, PowerPoint & Word.
  • Excel (create pivot tables, use VLOOKUP & formulas), good data analysis skills within Excel.
  • Effective and confident communication skills to liaise with various levels of the organisation.
  • Team player – this is key as you will work closely with others to achieve agreed objectives.
  • Good administrative skills as well as excellent organisation and time‑keeping skills plus an eye for detail and the ability to work very accurately and continually strive to improve processes.
