Overview

Shift Team Leader - Energy from Waste / Power Station – Kent

£65,000 - £70,000 + Benefits + Bonus

Alecto Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Shift Team Leader to join the operations team at an Energy from Waste (EfW) facility in Kent. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven leader from the power generation sector to take on a key operational role, offering strong career prospects, competitive salary, and benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day management of the operations team.
  • Deputise for the Operations Manager and make critical decisions in a safe and professional manner.
  • Manage site objectives including operational output, logistics, long-term operational and maintenance planning, statutory compliance, resource planning, and cost control.
  • Set KPIs, improvement plans, and performance targets for your shift team.
  • Oversee compliance with the SHE Management System and ensure safe working practices.
  • Ensure all team members are trained, competent, and supported.
  • Provide strong leadership, effective delegation, and clear communication.
  • Motivate and engage your team to create a purposeful and positive working environment.
  • Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of the site Maintenance System.
Qualifications & Experience
  • A relevant technical qualification (ONC/HNC/Degree in an engineering discipline).
  • At least 5 years' experience in an operational power station environment with supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Background in Energy from Waste, CCGT, Biomass, CHP, Coal, or Nuclear.
  • Alternatively, Senior Royal Navy Marine Engineers with significant watchkeeping experience (Petty Officer / Chief Petty Officer / Warrant Officer) will also be considered.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification.
  • Senior Authorized Person (SAP) status or High Voltage (HV) experience (advantageous).
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.
