A leading utilities and civil engineering contractor in Reading is seeking a SHEQ Manager to oversee health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across multiple projects. This role offers a salary of £40k-£60k, hybrid working arrangements, and the opportunity to work on high-profile Thames Water projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SHEQ management within the water or construction sector and relevant qualifications.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.
  • Experience managing SHEQ in the water or construction sector.
  • Confident in ISO standards management.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the company's SHEQ competent person.
  • Develop and implement H&S, Environmental and Quality policies.
  • Carry out audits, inspections, and reviews.
  • Manage ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 standards.
  • Support teams across operations and project delivery.

SHEQ Manager - £40,000 to £60,000 + Hybrid Working

Location: Reading (2-3 days a week in Head Office)

Projects: Thames Water (with future AMP8 work across Wessex & Southern Water)

Are you a hands-on SHEQ Manager who loves getting stuck into live projects, driving standards, and making a real impact?

This is your chance to join a growing utilities & civil engineering contractor delivering key projects across the water sector — with huge scope as AMP8 ramps up.

You’ll be the go-to expert for all things Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality, shaping policy, leading improvements, and keeping people safe across multiple sites and frameworks.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Acting as the company's SHEQ competent person
  • Developing, improving, and implementing H&S, Environmental and Quality policies
  • Carrying out regular audits, inspections and internal reviews
  • \
  • Leading investigations, reporting on performance, and driving corrective actions
  • Managing and maintaining ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 standards
  • Owning industry accreditations including CHAS, Constructionline, Achilles UVDB, ECO Vadis, Avetta and more
  • Supporting teams across operations, engineering and project delivery
  • Building strong relationships with clients such as Thames Water, Wessex Water, Southern Water
  • Leading safety meetings, toolbox talks, training and continuous improvement programmes
  • Ensuring environmental protection and sustainability targets are met
  • Championing a positive SHEQ culture across the business
What You'll Need
