A thriving utilities company in the United Kingdom is seeking a SHEQ Advisor to provide support in ensuring compliance with SHEQ management systems. This full-time role involves site visits and communicating with various stakeholders to drive safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a NEBOSH Certificate, IOSH Membership, and strong communication skills to effectively lead meetings and build relationships. A full UK driving license is necessary as travel is required.
What’s in it for you… We believe in looking after our people, and it shows. When you join Ipsum, you’re not just taking a job — you’re starting a career with real support behind it.
Our business is growing, and through this growth we have the opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor to join our team. You will provide the business with guidance and support in relation to compliance with our SHEQ management systems and compliance with our legislative obligations. As a safety expert you will provide coaching and mentoring to employees in relation to the use of our SHEQ management systems. This is a full time permanent role based from our office in Erith with some travel to sites and hybrid working.
Maintain a dynamic and driven approach to promoting and supporting SHEQ across the group, the divisions, depots and sites within your own remit.
Be an ambassador for SHEQ and promoting “out of the box” thinking to enable solutions to problems to be identified and implemented effectively with the customers and the operations that you support.
Facilitate the development and implementation of policies, procedures, management systems and risk controls which help reduce risk and support a positive SHEQ culture.
Support and working closely with the internal customers, divisions, contracts, operational managers and teams as well as supporting clients and other key stakeholders in relation to planning, reviewing, and achieving SHEQ targets and objectives, promoting continuous improvement and helping to implement the requirements of our Occupational Health and Safety Plan.
Support the contracts to measure and monitor performance against the Group and Divisional Occupational Health and Safety Plans.
Conduct site visits to monitor and review performance and provide feedback (audit and inspection reports), and provide guidance and advice in relation to the corrective action that can/could be taken to address any non-conformances that are identified.
You will have a NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety along with IOSH Membership. Experience in a similar role is key, and it would be beneficial if you had industry knowledge or worked on Tier 1 sites previously, but this isn't essential! You will be motivated, a fantastic communicator and keen to provide your HSEQ knowledge and expertise to the business. You will be confident leading meetings, building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, and delivering impactful presentations. As this role requires some travel you will need to have a full UK driving licence.
