Setting Out Engineer - Civil Engineering

Location: South Lanarkshire

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Additional Benefits

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join a well-established civil engineering contractor on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in either residential groundworks or civil engineering projects and be eager to contribute to the successful delivery of a variety of high-profile infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Setting Out: Accurately set out construction lines, levels, and reference points in accordance with the project plans and specifications.
• Site Surveying: Conduct surveys and measurements to ensure accurate positioning of structures, roads, drainage, and other civil engineering elements.
• Site Management Support: Work closely with site managers and contractors to ensure work is progressing according to plans, specifications, and deadlines.
• Technical Drawing Interpretation: Interpret and use technical drawings and plans for setting out activities.
• Quality Control & Compliance: Ensure all works are completed in line with regulatory standards and project specifications.
• Health & Safety: Support the implementation of health and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all site personnel.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Setting Out Engineer, with expertise in either residential groundworks or civil engineering projects.
• Proven experience in setting out for large-scale construction projects, including roads, drainage, utilities, and groundworks.
• Strong technical knowledge of engineering principles and construction methods.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with setting out instruments such as Total Stations (e.g., Leica, Trimble), GPS systems, AutoCAD, for accurate surveying and alignment.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering projects to the highest quality standards.
• Health and safety awareness in a site-based role.
• A valid driving license and willingness to travel between sites.
