About the Role and our Ideal Candidate

The position involves facilitating positive, supervised family time sessions between parents/extended family members with children in the care of the local authority.

Responsibilities
  • To facilitate and supervise family time sessions and record these to a standard that can be presented as evidence within court
  • To facilitate handovers between foster carers and parents at the start and ending of supervised family time sessions
  • To be present before and after supervised family time sessions to ensure there is no unsupervised interaction between parents and children in the care of the local authority
  • To follow policy and procedure with regard to any risks to children which are identified and act accordingly to ensure that children and young people are safeguarded at all times
  • To provide timely, appropriately reports of work undertaken as required.
About you
  • Hold a recognised, relevant qualification and/or a minimum of 2-3 years experience working with children and families
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels with a friendly and approachable nature
  • Be able to write concise, accurate, relevant reports following supervised family time sessions within required timescales
  • Have a good understanding of current legislation and policy regarding safeguarding for children and families
  • Have experience of dealing with safeguarding issues commensurate to role and responsibility
  • Have good IT skills

You will be part of the Practice Support and Development Service and help the service deliver high quality family time sessions.

You will have the opportunity to improve children and parent relationships and as such will have access to appropriate training to further develop your skills. You will be provided with good support and supervision.
