Job description

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Service Manager to join our Gloucestershire Connect & Offload Helpline.

Connect and Offload (CandO) is an open access Helpline providing a free confidential telephone helpline, webchat and text facility for people aged 18 and over and living in Gloucestershire; who would like support with their mental wellbeing.

The person I spoke to was lovely and very comforting. She gave me so many ideas in terms of how to deal with my anxiety and get through the difficult times. I actually made a point of writing things down as it was so useful. - Service User

The Helpline provides low to moderate emotional support, information and signposting 365 days a year between 2pm and 9pm. We aim to prevent, reduce and/or de-escalate mental distress. The service is available for people affected by mental illness, their carers/friends/family or professionals.

Helpline Workers support people via phone, webchat and text; supporting members of the public on an open access basis (without the need for a referral). We provide kind and compassionate support, treating each person that contacts us as an individual. Ensuring that the support we provide is tailored to meet their needs. Helpline Workers provide support using a non-judgmental, holistic, trauma informed and person centred approach.

As the Service Manager, you will lead a staff team to ensure that we are delivering high-quality, safe and person-centre support in line with contractual requirements – most importantly delivering great outcomes for people using our services. You will ensure the service operates effectively and complies with internal policies and procedures and external regulations.

We reserve the right to close this advertisement early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion: Diversity is important to us and we appreciate difference through difference, inclusiveness and belonging. We recognise and support staff networks and support groups for our ethnically diverse and LGBTQIA+ colleagues. We are also proud to have been awarded Disability Confident Employer status and are a signatory to the Business in the Community Race at Work Charter.

We aim for our workforce to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve; for those who work for us to feel heard, valued and feel they belong; and for our work to help tackle wider mental health inequalities. We therefore actively encourage and welcome applications from everyone, including applicants with lived experience of mental illness, those who are LGBTQIA+; people who are neurodiverse, have a health condition, or a disability or hidden disability and people from an ethnically diverse background.

We have an ambition of becoming a truly anti-racist employer, campaigning organisation and service provider. We have designed a multi-year anti-racist programme of work contained in our Race Equality Action Plan which demonstrates our intention to hold ourselves accountable and be judged on our progress on becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.
