Customer Service Engineer

Location: Tamworth

Reports to: Customer Service Manager

The Customer Service Engineer is responsible for delivering exceptional technical support, maintenance, and after‑sales service to customers. This role combines on‑site service visits with remote support, installation of equipment, and training of customers and partner engineers.

The role also contributes to business growth by identifying new sales opportunities, managing service schedules, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.

This position requires a hands‑on engineer with strong technical skills, excellent customer communication, and the ability to work independently across a diverse range of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.

Customer Service and After‑Sales Support
  • Provide service, maintenance, and calibration of test and measurement equipment at customer sites across the UK and occasionally overseas.
  • Offer technical support to customers via telephone and email.
  • Develop the after‑sales service business by preparing quotations, managing schedules, and supporting budgeting and visit planning through a service database.
  • Train partner and distributor service engineers, as well as customers.
  • Install equipment at customer sites.
  • Manage all site‑specific Health & Safety and risk documentation.
  • Identify sales opportunities for consumables and new equipment while liaising with customers.
  • Provide production or workshop support when workload permits.
Required Skills / Qualifications
  • Time‑served maintenance technician/engineer with experience working directly with customers both remotely and on‑site.
  • Solid experience with electrical and pneumatic systems; knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with equipment comprising electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and composite components.
  • Full, clean driving licence essential.
  • Willingness to undergo product training and gain exposure to manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of customer needs and expectations.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate quality control and service documentation.
