Qualifications

Senior Town Planning Manager - Permanent

Location: Heathrow Airport

Working format: Full time - 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home

Salary: Up to GBP85,000pa

Start date: ASAP

Role

An experienced Senior Town Planning Manager is required to join an existing dynamic Town Planning and Consenting team. You will play a key role in developing and implementing planning strategies that support sustainable growth and capital investment programmes that are already in action.

The successful candidate will bring expert knowledge of the Town and Country Planning Act (TCPA) and Development Consent Order (DCO) regimes, providing strategic planning advice to influence national, regional, and local planning policies, including major infrastructure policy frameworks, to protect and advance organisational interests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert advice on planning policy and facilitate capital investment projects through the planning system.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including local planning authorities and regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee planning applications and submissions to ensure smooth delivery of capital investment plans.
  • Advise on DCO (Development Consent Order) and consenting activities for long-term growth plans, developing clear strategies and leading pre-application processes.
  • Monitor and respond to planning policy changes, legislative reforms, and third-party planning applications, delivering robust responses to consultations.
  • Ensure compliance with planning laws, conditions, and obligations attached to existing consents.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI)
  • Relevant DCO experience in planning and consenting for infrastructure projects
  • Excellent knowledge of UK planning law, regulation, and procedures
  • Significant experience within a UK Planning team managing large infrastructure projects
  • Expertise in Planning, Environmental Impact Assessment, Compulsory Acquisition, and Statutory Consultation
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage and influence internal and external stakeholders

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Planning, Aviation, or related fields
  • Knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment and Airspace Change Process
  • Interest in public policy and political affairs
