Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer - Modelling
Location: West Midlands

Overview

This role supports the development and integration of model‑based system engineering for BAE Systems Submarines’ advanced submarine platforms. You will apply domain expertise and formalised modelling to support system requirements, design, analysis, verification and validation activities across the entire engineering lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Apply model‑based systems engineering subject‑matter expertise to formalise and model system requirements, design, analysis, verification and validation activities.
  • Understand and model the customer and user needs of the product system and influence design activities and technical and operational performance.
  • Ensure capture of comprehensive design proving evidence within the model and endorsement by the appropriate authority.
  • Integrate system models with other submarine platform models.
  • Report programme status, identify problem areas, and implement recovery plans, including change embodiment activities.
  • Lead development of estimates for scope of work and resources to support bids, proposal development and project planning.
  • Share knowledge and experience to lead and develop others in MBSE.
Essential Qualifications
  • Experience with model‑based systems engineering processes and practices in defence, maritime or a closely linked industry, recognising the context of their work.
  • Experience of the engineering lifecycle, operating in the phase relevant to the role and awareness of the entire lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of relevant engineering standards, including safety and environmental regulations.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience working with a systems engineering modelling tool such as Enterprise Architect (EA).
  • Experience with a systems modelling language such as SysML.
  • Knowledge of modelling frameworks.
  • Knowledge or awareness of ISO 15288.
