Job description

Our client is a global leader in ship navigation systems and advanced maritime solutions, delivering highly specialised technologies for commercial vessels, mega yachts, refit programmes, naval surface combatants, and maritime surveillance platforms. Our client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer to join their small UK‑based Engineering Team. This role will focus on the technical design of complex navigation and bridge systems for naval combatants and maritime surveillance projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce high‑quality technical documentation, including: Interface control documents, Requirements and design documentation, Statements of Work (SoW) and Verification and validation documentation
  • Build, configure, and test complex systems
  • Maintain in‑depth knowledge of existing products and systems, providing guidance to service engineers for commissioning, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair
  • Interpret and manage requirements specifications, including:
    • Flowстер‑down of system‑level requirements
    • Alignment with CONOPS
    • Architectural descriptions of system capabilities
  • Prepare technical proposals in response to new opportunities and customer requirements
  • Carry out system installation, commissioning, and setting‑to‑work activities where required
  • Make technical decisions within contract scope and in line with company policies and processes
  • Conduct system fault diagnosis and trials at customer sites or on naval platforms in the UK and overseas
Required Experience & Skills
  • Proven experience in systems engineering for marine electronics systems, including:
    • Radar systems
    • Electronic chart display systems
    • Navigation aids
    • Steering control systems
  • Experience building, configuring, and fault‑finding PC‑based systems and associated networks
  • Proficiency with engineering and project tools such as: DOORS, SVN, MS Office and Visio
Education
  • HNC, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a related technical discipline
