Job summary

A local authority client in London seeks a Senior Planning Solicitor for an initial 3-month contract to deliver efficient legal services. Job description

Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in London in the search for a Senior Planning Solicitor to join their Town Planning department on an initial 3-month contract.

Responsibilities:
  • To contribute to the efficient and cost-effective delivery of legal services within a culture of customer focus, continuous improvement, service excellence and employee development.
  • To provide professional/technical advice to officers, heads of department, colleagues and Councillors, in respect of planning, property and highway matters, in particular advising on major urban redevelopment projects, property acquisitions, public-private partnerships, appropriation and compulsory purchase orders.
  • To attend and advise Councillors at planning committee meetings and if required licensing sub-committee hearings.
  • To contribute to the delivery of the council's objectives and priorities.
  • To lead by example in modelling and embedding the council's values and behaviours, working collaboratively with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders to help build a sustainable highly effective organisation and develop our reputation as a successful council delivering great value for its residents.
To apply for these roles, the following are essential:
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of CILEX entitled to practice in England and Wales
  • Experience of dealing with complex and/or high-profile Property and Regeneration cases
  • Experience negotiating and drafting complex planning agreements and highway agreements and advise on major development schemes including the Council's own redevelopment projects

The council are looking for candidates who will be able to hit the ground running and are offering flexible working arrangements.

Carrington West Pay Rate - £60per/hour
