Overview

The Digital Process Improvement (DPI) Team focuses on transforming how internal teams work by identifying, designing and implementing digital solutions that remove friction, reduce cost and save Time across the department.

We work Closely with teams from across MHCLG to understand their processes and User Needs, then Build practical, Scalable Solutions using low‑Code and Automation Technologies such as Microsoft Power Platform, Canvas and Model‑Driven Applications, Power Automate‐Flows and Power BI.

DPI also uses what We Learn through These Delivery Activities to help Shape Standards, Governance and Capability for How These Tools Are Used More Widely Across The Department.

Responsibilities
  • Act As Both a Hands‑On Engineer and a Technical Lead, Working Closely with Product Teams, Business Users, Analysts and Data Specialists to Develop Secure, Maintainable Solutions that Deliver Measurable Value.
  • Act As the Technical Lead for Power BI and Power Platform Solutions, Setting Direction, Standards and Best Practice for Dashboard Design, Data Modelling, Integration and Governance.
  • Design, Build and Maintain Robust, Secure and Scalable Solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse and Related Tools).
  • Work With Business Areas to Understand User Needs and Translate Them into Sustainable Technical Solutions, Ensuring Accessibility, Usability and Maintainability.
  • Provide Expert Technical Guidance and Mentor Other Engineers and Business Users, Helping to Grow Platform Capability and Confidence Across the Department.
  • Contribute to the Development of Standards, Governance and Environment Strategies for Power Platform and Power BI, in Collaboration with Architecture, M365 and Data Platform Teams.
  • Embed Good Practice in Security, Performance, Testing, Version Control and Life‑Cycle Management for Solutions Developed on the Platform.
  • Collaborate with Product, Delivery and Data Teams to Align Power Platform Solutions with Wider Digital and Data Strategies.
  • Keep Up to Date with Microsoft Roadmap Developments and Emerging Technologies, Ensuring Solutions are Future‑Proof and Aligned with Enterprise Architecture Principles.
  • Act as a Visible Advocate for the DPI Team’s Work and Approach, Influencing Stakeholders to Adopt Better Ways of Working.
