Senior Social Worker - Mental Health and Substance Use, Inpatient and Community Based Services – Royal Edinburgh Hospital / Community

Salary: £46,023-£54,476 | Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks

Overview

Edinburgh City Health & Social Care Partnership (EHSCP) is transforming social work to support adults impacted by Mental Health and Substance Use. This role focuses on preventing unnecessary hospital admissions, supporting early discharge, and managing a caseload of adult support, protection, and incapacity cases, alongside leading a small team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide trauma-informed, strengths-based social work across inpatient and community settings.
  • Support hospital discharge planning and early discharge, collaborating with acute hospital sites and locality teams.
  • Manage a caseload of adult support, protection, and incapacity cases, ensuring safety and engagement with recovery plans.
  • Line manage a group of social workers and develop services within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Apply Recovery Focused and Conversations approach to understand what matters to people and families.
  • Ensure compliance with the Social Care (Self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act 2013 and PVG Scheme requirements.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Social Worker with experience in Mental Health Services and adult protection.
  • Desirable MHO, Practice Educator, or ASP qualifications.
  • Experience managing complex cases and working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and PVG Scheme procedures.
