We continue to grow our UK branch with a further expansion of our simulation capabilities. As a Senior Simulation Engineer, you’ll be part of a Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe’s UK team, with the mission to support global Toyota, its customers, and partners, with our in-house simulator and simulation technologies.

You will contribute to the continued development of this technology for a broad range of Motorsport and Automotive applications and be required to take ownership of feature developments and customer deliverables. This will involve algorithm and model development to keep Toyota at the leading edge of innovation and drive forward the virtualisation of vehicle development. You’ll also have close contact with the customers and end-users, allowing you to be part of the full development cycle - from requirements and concept development through to delivery and support of your work. This will include occasional travel to other Toyota facilities around the world, including Japan and the USA.

As a senior member of the UK team, you’ll also work closely with various groups in TGR-E’s Cologne head office, supporting common development process and technologies. You will have the opportunity to mentor younger engineers, whilst still learning from subject matter experts within the team, the business, and the wider Toyota family.

Your Role:

  • Develop models and algorithms for motorsport and automotive simulation
  • Design and establish novel motion cueing strategies for Driver-in-the-Loop simulators
  • Support and maintain Toyota’s global simulator portfolio
  • Develop algorithms and models for motorsport and automotive applications
  • Own feature development and customer deliverables
  • Work across the full development cycle, including global collaboration and occasional travel
  • Mentor junior engineers and liaise with TGR-E headquarters in Cologne

Your Profile:

  • Several years industry experience of mathematical modelling, simulation,optimisationand related fields
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Proficient in more than one mathematical programming language – e.g. MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C++
  • Previous experience in motion cueing algorithm development, optimisation and tuning
  • Previous experience working across multiple operating systems (e.g. Linux)
  • Experience of current development best practices including Agile methodologies
  • Previous experience with Driving Simulators and Model Based Design
  • Appreciation and understanding of source control and continuous integration tools in a development pipeline
  • Knowledge and experience in high level motorsport and its associated fields, including F1, WEC, WRC and GT championships.
