We are looking for a Band 6 radiographer to join our expanding team at this exciting time. Due to a relocation of services we are opening 2 brand new hybrid theatres within our new hospital wing - both with brand new imaging equipment. As the hub of the vascular services for Bedfordshire and Luton these hybrid theatres will undertake the vascular intervention cases along with facilitating interventional radiology procedures.
The hybrid theatres will support both vascular and interventional radiology procedures, offering a stimulating and progressive clinical environment. We are looking for a radiographer who is eager to contribute during this period of growth and innovation, and who brings experience in an additional imaging modality to support the rotational nature of the role.

To competently undertake radiographic techniques, planning and prioritising own workload and acting in an advisory role when supervising other staff. To have an understanding of vascular imaging or cardiac imaging. To be able to maintain a high quality of work and complete consideration for the patient. To be a good example to and train radiographers, student radiographers and other health care workers and help them to develop into skilled considerate workers. To be responsible for a designated aspect of the Imaging Department. This is a rotational role within Imaging to include vascular and another speciality. The Trust has implemented a shift system and is moving towards fully 7 day working. Willingness to work within a flexible work pattern will be required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To competently carry out general, fluoroscopy and theatre imaging examinations. To undertake vascular +/- cardiac imaging with some understanding of the role.
2. To ensure that all examinations are justified as per the IR(ME)R 2000 Regulations and fulfil the role of operator. To minimise radiation dose levels as low as reasonably practical.
3. To display a high degree of precision and hand eye coordination to produce accurate images in a timely manner.
4. To participate in the out of hours emergency service on a rota basis including working single-handedly to maintain radiographic cover across the hospital, inclusive of Accident Service and the Operating Theatres. To provide first line advice to medical and nursing staff on imaging procedures during emergency hours. To carry and respond to the emergency bleep.
5. To assess and prioritise patient workload, being accountable for own professional actions, supervising radiography students and other health care professionals in the area of work.
6. To actively promote the team and, where appropriate, engage in effective communication with staff both within and outside the department.
7. To extend the role of the radiographer. To extend their role by participation in first line image interpretation in A & E, undertaking IV injections of contrast media, and developing skills in a specialist area.
8. To take responsibility for room management, maintaining awareness of the overall departmental workload, and to support the operational running of the department as required.
9. To ensure integrity of data quality on the computer systems and report errors to appropriate lead person.
10. To be responsible for a specific aspect of the X-ray department. This will include the practical and theoretical training of staff and students in this area.
11. To check radiographs for quality of image, identification of patients, date and the anatomical markers. Collate all relevant documents and radiographs and present for interpretation. To check and advise other radiographers as appropriate
12. To ensure the safe and effective use of specialised, high-value equipment by monitoring its performance, maintaining it in good working order, and evaluating any issues. Faults should be promptly reported to a senior radiographer.
13. To participate in departmental research and audit.
14. To regularly participate in the departments quality control procedures including reject analysis and equipment testing
15. To maintain appropriate records and update clinical observations on the Imaging Request Form.
16. To actively contribute to discussions on service/policy developments
17. To maintain a high level of professionalism and adhering to departmental rules and policies at all times.
