The Opportunity

The consultancy is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its Birmingham team, taking a lead role in the delivery of key UK projects while contributing to an internationally connected consultancy environment. This position offers significant client exposure, technical responsibility and the opportunity to collaborate with global teams on select international commissions.

You will act as a trusted commercial advisor to clients, manage projects through all stages, and support the development of junior team members, while maintaining the consultancy’s high standards of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead pre- and post-contract cost management across a range of commercial and mixed-use projects.
  • Prepare detailed cost plans, feasibility studies, estimates and benchmarking reports.
  • Manage procurement strategies, tender documentation, tender analysis and contract award processes.
  • Administer contracts, valuations, variations, change control and cost reporting.
  • Provide strategic commercial advice to clients and design teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to value engineering exercises and risk management processes.
  • Support junior quantity surveyors and contribute to team leadership within the Birmingham office.
  • Collaborate with international teams where required on overseas or cross-border projects.
Required Experience & Background
  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a cost consultancy environment.
  • Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) – essential.
  • Strong track record delivering projects in sectors such as commercial, residential, mixed-use or infrastructure.
  • Confident operating in a client-facing role with responsibility for project delivery and commercial outcomes.
  • Solid understanding of JCT and NEC forms of contract.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence clients and stakeholders.
