Overview

A well-established main contractor with operations across the UK and Ireland is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in London. This is a great opportunity to work on major commercial and residential projects with a strong pipeline of work ahead.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the full commercial cycle on live projects, including cost planning, procurement, valuations, reporting and final accounts.
  • Prepare budgets, cost plans, valuations and final accounts.
  • Liaise with the Surveying Director, Project Director and Project Manager.
  • Attend design and site meetings and issue clear commercial updates.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with client representatives.
  • Review tender enquiries and assist with tender submissions.
  • Negotiate project costs and fixed-price agreements.
  • Chair pre-award meetings with subcontractors.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement and performance on site.
  • Oversee re-measurement, contra charges and payment certificates.
  • Maintain and sign off variation logs with the Junior QS.
  • Prepare interim payment applications and reconcile payments.
  • Produce monthly cost reports and attend commercial meetings.
  • Manage project cashflow forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements and industry standards.
Requirements
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of drawings, specifications and bills of quantities.
  • Experience delivering commercial or residential projects.
  • Able to extract quantities and issue enquiries to subcontractors.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and QS software.
  • Proven experience with valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Flexible, proactive and commercially focused.
