Job Description:

Role: Coke and Refinery (Technical Assessor)

Contract role

Location: Remote, UK coverage

We are seeking a Technical Assessor experienced in manufacturing coke oven products. As an external Technical Assessor, you will play a vital role in the UKAS assessment process, providing expertise to ensure robust evaluations in Coke and Refinery sectors.

This role offers a unique opportunity for industry professionals to develop their skills and advance their careers while contributing to UKAS assessments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Understanding manufacturing processes of coke oven products, coke, semi-coke, pitch, oven gas, crude coal, lignite tars, and coke agglomeration.
  • Understanding environmental impacts related to manufacturing coke and refined petroleum products.
  • Knowledge of production of motor fuels, gasoline, kerosene, and refinery gases such as ethane, propane, butane.
  • Manufacture of oil-based products for petrochemical industries and road coverings.
  • Production of petroleum briquettes and blending of biofuels.

Additional on-site appreciation areas include:

  • Carbonisation processes
  • Distillation of tar from lignite
  • Mineral oil production and safety processes
  • Coke production and by-products
  • Crude coal production

Candidates should have a degree in organic chemistry; extensive experience will also be considered.
