Overview

Job Title: Senior Project Manager - Savings & Retirement Technology (contract)

This is a day rate contract vacancy for 6 months - Inside IR35.

We are planning the implementation of new Business to Business and Business to Consumer solutions in our Savings and Retirement business. These will provide clients the capability to generate reinsurance price quotations on a self-service basis. Efforts are underway to replace and upgrade manual and legacy platforms to accommodate multiple clients on secure and scalable platforms.

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Project Manager to lead and oversee the successful technical implementation of the Technology Projects within the PL Re organisation.

You will have a strong background in project management, with demonstrable experience of managing 3rd party providers and implementing and rolling out new platforms. You will have a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget, ensuring planning, management, oversight and communications align with PL Re’s expectations.

You will work with multi-location Business and Technology Delivery teams including Savings and Retirement, Platforms, Infrastructure, Data, Enterprise Architecture and E-ISO, and where appropriate Actuarial Systems, Finance, Operations, Pricing and other teams to develop, align and manage the project plan and timelines.

Key Duties
  • Responsible for the successful end-to-end management of the implementation across the organisation.
  • Ensure the delivery of a high-quality solution that meets PL Re requirements and provides a smooth experience for internal business, external clients and technology teams.
  • Partner with project sponsors and stakeholders to define project scope, priorities, timelines, milestones, deadlines, plans, RAID, resource plans and deliverable schedules.
  • Work with Change and Incident management teams to ensure alignment and on-time delivery to objectives.
  • Anticipate issues and delays, evaluate trade-offs between project size, complexity, cost, risk, etc., and mitigate all project risks.
  • Develop activities with various teams, assign resources, supervise work and ensure adherence to established quality and risk management standards and methodologies; escalate issues as appropriate with proposals for resolution.
  • Facilitate discussions and consensus among project stakeholders, including the Project Steering Committee.
  • Coordinate work within the team, elicit clear progress updates, monitor and report on project status with transparency regarding risks and issues.
  • Manage and monitor the project budget and expenditures.
  • Ensure the project adheres to the business standards for project methodology, governance, reporting and risk management.
Qualifications, Expertise and Attributes
  • Essential experience and proven track record of end-to-end project implementations in a complex, large-scale environment with multiple stakeholders; proven experience as a Senior Project Manager in complex IT Service Management / Technology environments.
  • Experience in a regulated industry is highly desirable.
  • Comfortable with Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid methodologies, selecting the best approach for the task.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Data and analytical expertise; ability to elicit and agree requirements across diverse stakeholders.
  • Expert planning, control and monitoring skills.
  • Strong understanding of Technology Risk Management standards and security.
  • Proven communication skills with the gravitas to interact at Executive and Senior Leadership levels.
  • Experience in people management and matrix team leadership.
  • Extensive experience managing and partnering with multiple 3rd party vendors.
  • Strong understanding of project and programme methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, APM).
  • Degree or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • 10+ years of Project and Programme Management experience.
  • Knowledge and experience using PPM solutions, Jira/Atlassian & MS 365 is an advantage.
