We are delighted to be recruiting a Senior Project Manager to the Digital Change and Optimisation Team here at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The Senior Project Manager will be an integral part of the development and delivery of the Trust’s vision to be a truly digital healthcare organisation, supported by a solid foundation of infrastructure and innovative use of technology to enable excellence.

Main Duties of the Job

The Senior Project Manager will work within the Digital Change and Optimisation Team.

The main elements of the role will include:

  • Project managing a number of interlinked projects within the portfolio.
  • Researching, supporting, facilitating, monitoring and reporting on project progress, escalating issues when required.
  • Supporting performance improvement.
  • Matrix management of staff assigned to the projects as required.

Job Responsibilities

The role reports to the Head of Clinical Information Systems and will take ownership of a range of projects, in accordance with best practice project management principles.

The Senior Project Manager will manage the project from initiation to closure; including design, planning, execution, control, transition and transfer. The project will be managed in-line with standard DDaT processes and reporting standards; encompassing all aspects of DDaT services, process redesign, and interfaces with other parties.

The post holder will also work with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure the smooth transition of projects into BAU (Business As Usual).

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the matrix management of the project team and other resources as required, working towards the continual development of an ITIL‑framed project management environment and Informatics Department.

Person Specification

Experience (Essential)

  • Experience of applying PRINCE2 project management methodology to projects including large and/or complex projects.
  • Experience of managing teams of varying sizes and skill sets on a line management and/or matrix management basis.
  • Experience of conveying complex concepts and issues to all levels of staff.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in the NHS with clinicians and senior managers.

Skills (Essential)

  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills.

Desirable

  • Enthusiasm for new technology while maintaining a people‑centred approach.

Knowledge (Essential)

  • Understanding of equality and diversity issues and how this affects patients, visitors and staff.

Qualifications (Essential)

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent level of knowledge.
  • Formally qualified in Prince 2 to Practitioner level.

  • BCS membership.
  • UKCHIP registration.
