Job description

Our client is an innovative chemicals company, based in Oxfordshire, and focusses on the research and development of chemicals for improved sustainability.

An opportunity has now become available for an experienced Process Development Scientist to join the company and support with the R&D transfer from process to pilot plant scale. This role will be predominantly laboratory based and is an important role in the development of materials across a range of g-kg scales. It will require a strong chemistry background and prior experience in the commercialisation of novel chemicals.

Core responsibilities will include:

  • Design and synthesis of novel compounds along with process development for commercial manufacture
  • Utilise commercial chemistry knowledge to drive process R&D
  • Managing workstreams to ensure successful delivery of projects in line with research targets and timelines.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide expertise and strategy for next project steps.
  • Act as a mentor and trainer to junior staff members

Suitable applicants will have the following experience:

  • Prior experience in a Process Chemistry role from early-stage synthetic routes to scaled-up chemical processes.
  • Strong Chemistry background with technical experience in chemical analysis techniques (GC-FID, NMR, GC-MS, LC-MS)
  • Experience in the operation of jacketed vessels/reactors
  • Prior experience in a senior role as a leader or mentor
