Job summary

A leading engineering technology company in Wales is seeking a Senior Process Development Engineer to design and develop innovative assembly processes for new products. This role involves project management of equipment sourcing and direct support in hardware modification. Candidates should possess HNC level education in relevant fields and demonstrated success in precision assembly. Job description

Renishaw is one of the world’s leading engineering and scientific technology companies, with expertise in high precision metrology, healthcare, and Additive Manufacturing (AM).

In our AM Division, we design, and manufacture AM turn‑key solutions based on a process called metal powder bed fusion (or laser melting). Our products are used by customers in their cutting‑edge engineering projects, in market sectors ranging from automotive to aerospace.

We’re looking to recruit a Senior Process Development Engineer to work within the new product introduction team (NPI). The role will focus on the design, development and introduction of innovative, capable and effective assembly processes for new and existing products.

About the role
  • Designing, developing and introducing processes for the assembly and testing of new products
  • Working closely with the product design teams, developing strategies for the assembly of new products
  • Project managing the sourcing, supply and manufacture of the equipment and tooling required for the process being developed
  • Hands‑on support in the creation and modification of machine and test hardware
  • Ensuring new processes are safe, controlled, robust, capable and efficient
  • Utilising automation and control technology within the process where appropriate
  • Reporting and documenting the development and introduction of the process for both manufacturing and product divisions
About you

Educated to at least HNC level in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechatronics or Automation Engineering OR be able to demonstrate relevant equivalent experience.

Previous experience and evidence of success in the development of precision assembly processes.

Desirable requirements
  • Experience of DfA / DfM, Process Validation, FMEA or Six Sigma
  • Knowledge of automation techniques and their application to assembly processes
  • Experience in manufacture of assembly process rigs, jigs and fixtures including CE approval process
  • Knowledge of electrical schematics, wiring, validation and PLC programming

You’ll show enthusiasm and commitment to deliver challenging projects against targets and timescales. Your interpersonal and organisational skills, capability to plan and manage your own time and projects will help you meet these expectations.
