Job summary

A local charity organization is looking for a Senior Practitioner in Lancashire to manage a caseload of children and young people. The role is full-time and involves supervising staff, delivering group activities, and ensuring a safe environment. Applicants should have a valid UK driving licence and experience with SEND children, alongside a commitment to safeguarding practices. Flexibility in the working pattern is essential, covering evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Desirable: Driving licence & access to own vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of Children & Young People.
  • Lead and oversee group delivery.
  • Supervise Play Workers & As and When staff.
  • Attend meetings with other professionals.
  • Plan, deliver and record sessions and activities.
  • Ensure sessions run smoothly and adhere to policies.
  • Provide a safe and inclusive environment.

Skills

Effective communication with children, parents and carers
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies
Experience working directly with children & young people (SEND)

Education

Level 3 Children & Young People Workforce qualification (or equivalent)
Job description
Overview

Senior Practitioner – include short breaks service in Lancashire. Full‑time, permanent.

Location

Based in Lancashire with flexibility to travel to Blackpool, Chorley, South Ribble, Pendle, Burnley, Preston and West Lancashire.

Working Pattern

37 hours a week, including 2 evenings (until 7:30/8pm) and 1 weekend day. Other days are flexible and will be agreed at interview.

Essential Requirements
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to work towards Level 3 Children & Young People Workforce qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience working directly with children & young people (SEND).
  • Effective communication with children, parents and carers.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and commitment to Barnardo's safeguarding & child protection policies.
  • Desirable: driving licence & access to own vehicle.
Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings with other professionals and maintain good relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Plan, deliver and record sessions and activities.

  • Provide a safe, fun and inclusive environment for all service users.
