A leading energy supplier in the UK is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join their Global Platform Engineering team. This role involves designing scalable solutions and collaborating with various teams. The ideal candidate will have strong AWS knowledge, experience with automation, and excellent communication skills. The company offers a unique culture with autonomy and a focus on employee well-being. The position is primarily in London but remote candidates may be considered.
Octopus Energy started with a bold idea: to build Britain’s first truly digital energy supplier. By combining world-class tech with brilliant humans who care deeply about customers and driving the renewable energy transition, we became Britain’s largest energy supplier. We are scaling fast and building the next generation of products to accelerate the green energy transition, including making it effortless to switch to heat pumps, solar and EVs, launching smart tariffs, and creating renewable generation at scale. We’re also enabling our global businesses to roll out learnings, products and experiences that customers love here worldwide.
At Octopus Tech, you’ll have real ownership, variety, and the chance to shape products that make a tangible difference in people’s lives – lowering bills, enabling greener living, and delivering experiences customers genuinely love. You’ll work side by side with teams across marketing, operations, and data, and see the impact of your work in the real world, fast.
Our Global Platform Engineering team is responsible for architecting, building, and maintaining the core infrastructure, tooling, and services that enable our engineering teams to deliver at scale safely and reliably.
As a Senior Platform Engineer within this newly created team you’ll be able to take ownership of key platform areas, shaping how we build and operate infrastructure across the Octopus Energy Group. You’ll design and implement scalable solutions, mentor engineers and collaborate closely with teams to understand their needs and translate them into platform capabilities - from cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines to observability and developer experience.
You’ll bring a strong bias towards automation and scale, with a deep understanding of modern cloud infrastructure best practices, balancing pragmatism with long-term thinking. Thriving in an environment that welcomes continuous improvement and new ideas, your communication skills and attention to detail will be indispensable as you turn complex challenges into simple, scalable solutions that strengthen the foundation for all engineering teams.
