Job summary

A prominent health service provider in Bolton is seeking a Senior Pharmacy Assistant to provide effective dispensing services in a clinically-orientated pharmacy. Candidates must possess an NVQ level 2 qualification in Pharmacy Services and experience in a pharmacy setting. This role includes a fixed term contract, 37.5 hours per week, with participation in weekend and late-night rotas.

Qualifications

Senior Pharmacy Assistant band 3 - Dispensing Assistant

We have a qualified dispensing assistant who has either NVQ 2 or Buttercups in pharmacy services or an equivalent dispensing qualification.

This post is a 2 year fixed term contract

37.5 hours per week.

You will need to participate in 1:6 weekends and join our Bank Holiday rota plus participate in rotational late nights up to 6pm

Are you an experienced dispenser seeking new challenges in a clinically-orientated hospital pharmacy service or a pharmacy assistant who has completed NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services or equivalent?

A dispensing qualification is required for this post.

Are you looking for a wide-ranging and stimulating pharmacy experience? You will gain experience in our busy pharmacy dispensary dispensing a wide range of in-patients and outpatient medication including unlicensed medication and trials

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a hard working individual that wants to develop their skills and become an experienced dispenser in a hospital setting.

  • Provide a safe and effective routine dispensing services including the preparation of aseptically prepared medicines.
  • Provide patient focussed pharmacy services and support medicines management and risk management strategies within those area(s) and/or services.
  • Supervise assistants undertaking routine support activities necessary for the continuing supply service of pharmaceutical products, to the hospital and community clinics and other outlets .
  • Actively contribute to dispensing for discharge schemes and be responsible for providing this service to nominated wards under the guidance of higher level pharmacy technicians.
  • Support practice research within the pharmacy department.
  • You will contribute to all Bolton NHS Foundation Trust Pharmacy Services

Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS
  • NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services with relevant underpinning knowledge (including unit 2.6)
  • or eligible to work as pharmacy assistant under grandparent clause (RSPGB)
  • 4 passes at GCSE Grade C (or above) or CSE Grade 1 or GCE 'O' level (dual science preferred) Other level 2 or 3 NVQ in relevant areas of practice Dispensing certification eg NPA, Boots etc
EXPERIENCE
  • Ability to work under own initiative and with supervision
  • Able to meet deadlines whilst paying attention to detail
  • Satisfactory employment history
  • Previous pharmacy or stores experience
  • Ability to cope with occasional distressing circumstances e.g. when dealing with seriously ill patients
