Our Radiographers are a vital part of the InHealth team and they are responsible for making sure our patients receive the best standard of care, generating high quality images as part of their pathway.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior MRI Radiographer to join our MRI Radiography department in North Tyneside. Hours: Monday-Sunday 3 x 12 hour shifts between 7am and 9pm typically. Location: North Tyneside. You will be required to support shifts in Hexham, Cramlington and Wansbeck, so you will need to be able to drive.

What you will do
  • Carry out magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures to best practice standards of radiographic technique (MHRA Guidance 2015, IR(ME)R 2017, Code of Clinical Practice).
  • Provide a great experience for patients attending for MRI scanning, supporting them through the process from referral to results.
  • Run quality assurance checks on equipment and action as appropriate.
  • Respect and work within patients’ and service users’ customs, values and spiritual beliefs, making sure their views are sought and taken into account.
  • Perform triage functions of referrals, as required.
  • Support patient bookings and ensure Patient Information Systems are maintained with accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Understand and work in line with our suite of corporate policies supporting personal and clinical safety, including the Health and Safety Policy and Infection Prevention and Control Policy.
  • Demonstrate safe, effective practice in line with policies and procedures.
  • Maintain professional competencies and CPD.
  • Take ownership and fulfil the requirements of any required statutory and mandatory training; complete competency assessments.
  • Assist placement students and other colleagues in the achievement of their learning outcomes; share knowledge and clinical expertise.

  • Taking part in governance activities i.e. incident reporting and investigation, audits, personal development, and team meetings.
  • Monitoring essential stocks and re-ordering as required.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Complying with policies and procedures, including information security and providing a quality service.
  • Assessing referrals for urgency and compliance with MRI-specific patient safety policy.
  • Providing clinical leadership, supporting the management team; leading and supporting colleagues in the absence of the management team.
Experience and qualifications
  • BSc Radiography or equivalent.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional body and valid registration (HCPC).
  • A strong understanding of fundamental MRI physics and different scanning techniques and sequences.
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the radiographer role regarding patient care and teamwork.
  • High level of professionalism and technical standard of work.
  • Aptitude towards improving quality; ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of Data Protection Act, Caldicott Principles and GDPR.
  • Flexible approach to work and able to work across 7 days (Mon-Sun).
  • Strong team player, calm under pressure, and passionate about service delivery.
  • Experience with MRI in hospital or mobile settings; routine and complex MRI examinations; contrast scanning; infection control and health and safety policies; multi-disciplinary teamwork.
