Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services

Location : Sussex (Hybrid Working)

Salary : Circa £45,000 - £55,000

Type : Permanent

A highly regarded Building Services Consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Sussex-based team. This consultancy delivers technically excellent and sustainable solutions for a wide range of projects including commercial, residential, mission‑critical, hotels and more.

The Role

You will take a lead role in designing, managing and supervising mechanical building services projects, from concept through to completion. Working on a variety of sectors including data centres, high‑rise residential, hotels and commercial developments, you will have the opportunity to work across complex, high‑profile projects with real technical challenges.

Key responsibilities include :
  • Leading projects and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Preparing detailed designs, specifications, reports and drawings
  • Managing project budgets, schedules and resources
  • Conducting site supervision and inspections of workmanship and testing
  • Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and industry standards
  • Mentoring and supporting junior staffMaintaining strong client and design team relationships to encourage repeat business
About You
  • Membership of a professional engineering body, with desire to work towards chartership
  • Minimum 5-6 years’ industry experience in building services engineering
  • Strong technical competence and understanding of client requirements
  • Good communication, presentation and commercial skills
  • Potential to develop management skills and take on design team leadership
  • Experience across multiple sectors is advantageous
