Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Newark, Full Time, Permanent

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

Our client, based in Newark, is one of the world's top manufacturers in their field. Due to their sustained growth, our client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their market-leading team.

The Role
  • Design, develop, and test electro‑mechanical products.
  • Prepare professional product specifications, technical, and test reports.
  • Conduct fault analysis and technical investigations.
  • Supervise and support junior Engineers.
  • Implement changes to hardware designs to address cost, obsolescence, etc.
  • Assist production teams with improvements and issues.
  • Conduct verification activities, including environmental testing.
  • Maintain professionalism and develop continuously.
  • Produce detailed drawings to BS 8888 and manage drawing alterations.
  • Design 3D models using SolidWorks.
  • Ensure quality standards through design reviews/checking.
The Candidate
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in industrial design, mechanical engineering, or similar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a mechanical design engineer.
  • Task and issue management expertise.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks.
  • Excellent time‑management and multi‑project leadership.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including injection‑moulding and CNC milling.
  • Customer and supplier interfacing experience.
  • Skills in program management, analysis, and documentation organisation.
  • Independent project completion with minimal supervision.
  • SolidWorks PDM and MRP experience.
  • Familiarity with IEC/MIL/DO‑160 standards.
