The Senior Manager - FP&A (Commercial Finance Manager) is a pivotal part of the divisional leadership team and partners with commercial and operational teams to deliver insight, improve performance and drive profitability for the division. They lead reporting, forecasting, pricing, and governance while acting as a key advisor to the CFO and divisional leadership.

Client Details

Fluid Water Group is a rapidly expanding engineering and manufacturing business specialising in water pressure management systems for the UK domestic, commercial and industrial sectors.

Backed by a leading private equity house, the business has a strong track record of profitable and cash generative organic growth and has completed several acquisitions over the past 24 months.

Following this period of acquisition and expansion, the Group CFO is realigning the finance function to enhance controls, improve efficiency and increase financial support to the business.

Key aspects of the future finance operating model includes:

  • Adoption of a single ERP across the business (Sage)
  • Simplification of the legal structure
  • Centralisation of financial control processes (group consolidation, statutory reporting, audit, tax, transaction processing and treasury)
  • Establishment of commercial finance capability, closely aligned to business
Description

The newly created role of Senior Manager - FP&A (Commercial Finance Manager), acts as a key business partner to commercial and operational teams, providing financial insight, analysis, and strategic support to drive profitability, revenue growth, and business performance.

This role bridges the gap between finance and business functions, ensuring that financial planning aligns with business strategy and that execution plans are clearly set out and tracked effectively.

The role holder will report to the CFO but operate as part of the Division Management Team and have responsibility for:

  • Business partnering including
    • S&OP and inventory management
    • Pricing and profitability management
    • Product cost analysis and supply chain / procurement strategy
    • Commercial terms management according to divisional DOA
  • Financial reporting
  • Financial forecasting for Division
  • Business governance
Key Responsibilities
  • Business Partnering
    • Provide financial leadership and analysis to core divisional processes
    • Track key strategic synergy and growth initiatives
    • Develop databases supporting analytics with Business, IT team and GFC
  • Leadership
    • Key member of Divisional Leadership team and CFO Direct Reports team
    • Key promoter of FWG values through an inclusive, positive, can-do approach
    • Collaborate with GFC and GTM to ensure successful transition to new finance operating model
  • Financial reporting
    • Prepare annual budget with leadership and be accountable for delivery of targets
    • Co-ordinate performance management structure with Division MD and CFO
    • Prepare weekly and monthly financial reporting packs
    • Prepare 360' commercial and operational KPIs (eg efficiency, PPV, QA, order convertibility, rate of sale, distributor stock levels, bid and win rate, etc)
  • Financial forecasting
    • Enhance monthly financial reforecast processes including P&L, Cash and Capex
    • Identify Gaps, Over-Delivery and R&O and model forecast scenarios
  • Business Governance
    • Ensure application of DOA within business division
    • Maintain and follow Division Finance Manual
    • Represent good business governance with Division leadership team
Profile

The role is highly commercial and carries responsibility for both financial and business management. To achieve success, the role holder will be innovative and relentless in their drive for continuous improvement, collaborating closely with colleagues to create sustainable solutions where process gaps exist today.

In addition, this is a key leader in the divisional team who will be pro-active in identifying risks and opportunities to the business plan and managing these with Divisional and Executive management teams.
