Our Client is a growing, forward-thinking building services consultancy delivering innovative, high-quality solutions across commercial and residential sectors. As they expand, they are looking for an exceptional leader, a Senior Manager or Associate Director, to take charge of their Electrical Design Engineering function.
The Role
In this senior leadership position, you’ll lead their electrical engineering department, drive multi-disciplinary projects, mentor talented engineers, and set the highest standards for delivery and client satisfaction. You’ll have direct influence on both day-to-day operations and the long-term strategic direction of the business.
What You’ll Be Doing
Strategic & Technical Leadership
- Lead electrical engineering services across diverse commercial and residential projects.
- Be the technical authority and trusted client partner throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to business development, bids, and strategic planning.
Design & Compliance
- Oversee electrical designs covering power distribution, lighting, control systems, and specialist systems.
- Ensure designs meet all UK regulations and best practice (IET Wiring Regs, CDM, CIBSE, BSRIA).
- Produce and review schematic and layout drawings (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, etc.).
- Carry out site surveys and prepare detailed reports.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and inspire the electrical design team.
- Support the professional growth of engineers at all levels.
- Collaborate closely with project managers and multi-disciplinary teams.
Commercial Management
- Oversee project scopes, budgets, and resources.
- Monitor profitability, productivity, and timely delivery.
Client Engagement
- Present technical solutions with confidence.
- Build lasting relationships with clients, developers, architects, and contractors.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (Master’s ).
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IET or equivalent.
- 12–15+ years’ experience in building services, with 5+ years in senior leadership.
- Strong technical expertise in UK electrical systems.
- Proven track record in managing teams and delivering complex projects.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux/Relux, and industry-standard tools.
