Overview

This role is responsible for Capital Supplier Management, scoping service levels with the AST Business for all capital suppliers, both existing and new, and setting the criteria for ethical, business, quality, regulatory and safety standards. The role will drive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the business is supported and all supply risks are communicated. The selected candidate will work with cross‑functional teams supporting the business strategy and development plans for the business unit. The role involves familiarisation with a variety of design concepts, practices, and procedures and relies on experience and good judgement to plan and accomplish goals. There is an opportunity to execute a wide degree of creativity, and latitude is expected. Develop and execute departmental goals and objectives and establish operating mechanisms to drive collaboration and decision‑making agility.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the Capital Supplier framework for the AST Business unit in line with company goals.
  • Research, define and standardise the Capital Supplier framework; communicate to stakeholders and obtain buy‑in.
  • Work with Finance, Sourcing, Quality and Operations to establish supplier standards and implement based on risk and spend.
  • Ensure all Capital Suppliers meet regulatory requirements and sustainability commitments.
  • Develop systems and data sets for the analytical performance of critical Capital Suppliers.
  • Ensure all Capital Suppliers are contracted accordingly and develop KPIs for both capital and service.
  • Chair and action QBRs with Capital Suppliers with a focus on continuous improvement and efficiencies.
  • Identify supply chain risks and establish secondary sources where risk exists.
  • Break down strategic plans into actionable tasks, goals, teams and deadlines, building roadmaps across the business unit and prioritising based on need and risk to processing continuity.
  • Build relationships with suppliers to support standardisation of systems across the business unit.
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality by maintaining compliance with all Quality Systems requirements and applicable regulations, guidelines and company policies; promote a work environment that supports compliance.
  • Deliver critical, timely communications to senior leadership; identify dependencies, risks and contingency plans.
  • Proactively monitor progress and anticipate effects of dependencies on schedule and cost.
  • Ensure Capital Supplier relationships align with the corporate vision and global objectives, including LEAN, 5S, Sustainability and One Team One Goal strategies.
  • Apply STERIS values and culture in managing the business, suppliers, customers and staff.
  • Plan and allocate resources needed to reach objectives and manage them effectively.
  • Define communication, risk and change management approaches.
  • Develop and establish Capital Supplier scorecards.
  • Develop supplier selection standards template and approach across quality, financial, regulatory and safety aspects.
  • li>Maintain strong customer focus and safety awareness throughout operations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Engineering, Science or Management preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience in an operational/engineering environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing/directing an operational/engineering department.
  • Minimum 5 years Capital Equipment experience (Medical Devices, Appliances, Defense, Aerospace).
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Valid driver’s licence.

  • Good understanding of continuous improvement principles.
  • Leadership skills and high integrity.
  • Aware of safety importance to the business and customer first mindset.
  • Risk awareness and ability to manage risk avoidance.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Understanding of technology and innovation; exposure to industrial irradiation systems is a plus.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make rational decisions.
  • Strong collaboration and ability to promote teamwork across the organization.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple high-priority situations.
