Senior Legal Counsel Construction & Procurement Law

RWE Renewables UK Management Ltd. Full time, permanent.

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to support our international RWE Offshore Wind business.

About the role
  • Key legal partner for international procurement, construction and operations in RWE’s Offshore Wind business.
  • Advising, developing, drafting and negotiating high-impact contracts across all phases of offshore wind projects, including turbine supply, foundation, EPC(I) & turnkey, component purchase, service and maritime logistics contracts.
  • Go‑to legal advisor for project teams and business partners, coordinating in‑house and external experts to deliver pragmatic, cost‑effective solutions.
  • Overseeing contract‑related legal matters, proactively advising senior management on risks, claims and disputes.
  • Supporting dispute resolution processes, including collaboration with outside counsel when necessary.
  • Championing standardisation and process improvements to streamline the way we work and maximise our legal impact.
  • Engineering tailored, innovative solutions for complex, high‑value projects where a creative approach is required.
  • Building strong, cross‑functional and cross‑cultural relationships with legal and business colleagues across regions and the wider RWE Group.
Job requirements and experience
  • Qualified lawyer with a proven track record and exceptional legal skills.
  • In‑depth knowledge of construction law and eagerness to become an expert in related areas such as energy or procurement law.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a practising lawyer or in‑house counsel (ideally 5 years focused on construction and procurement law in renewables on international projects).
  • Strong commercial and technical acumen, with a strategic approach to supporting industrial projects from a legal perspective.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills, coupled with a solution‑driven and positive mindset.
  • Full fluency in English; other languages a plus.
  • Flexible working hours and location arrangements to help you achieve work‑life balance.
