We are seeking an experienced Senior Information Governance Officer to join our team. This is a pivotal role in developing and implementing information governance policies, ensuring compliance, and driving continuous improvement across the Council and its partners.

You will support the Data Protection Officer, lead investigations into information security incidents, and help shape the Council's approach to information assurance and compliance. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is proactive, collaborative, and passionate about data protection and governance.

About the Role

As part of a busy team, you will be dealing in multiple areas relating to information governance. Duties will include:

  • Taking responsibility for the development and implementation of information governance policies and projects and advising all parts of the organisation on information assurance and compliance, technology, information and online issues in line with LCC Information Governance policies and procedures.
  • Fulfilling I&T information assurance, and compliance through supporting the completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments and Information Security Risk Assessments, overseeing information compliance and assurance services and leading on investigations into information security and compliance incidents.
  • Taking responsibility for delivering an innovative and collaborative approach, based on an ethos of continuous improvement that stimulates and enables the development of unified and fit for purpose information governance offering.
  • Advising and assisting with the management and completion of information rights requests received by the Council.
About You

To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:

  • Relevant Degree or equivalent, or experience of assisting in developing, designing and delivering an effective information / technology policy, information governance or information compliance service appropriate to the qualification level.
  • Leading on or managing information policy projects.
  • Being responsible for investigations into information security/compliance incidents and issues, negotiating actions and leading on continuous improvement.
  • Experience in dealing with complex information rights requests within statutory timeframes.
  • Presenting and providing support, advice and recommendations across the organisation and amongst partners on information governance matters.
  • Capturing, developing and implementing requirements for information/technology policy and information assurance work packages.
  • Technical understanding of UK Data Protection law and proven ability to relate specifics from the Act to business issues.
