Job summary

A multidisciplinary consultancy in Greater Manchester is seeking a Hydraulic Modeler to manage fluvial modelling assignments and mentor junior colleagues. You'll be responsible for preparing assessments, developing hydraulic models, and liaising with clients and regulators. The role offers competitive salary of £37,000 - £40,000 and provides numerous benefits including annual leave, healthcare schemes, and professional development opportunities within a collaborative team. Remote/hybrid work is also possible.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years in fluvial flood / hydraulic modelling.
  • Experience preparing flood risk assessments / modelling reports / water environment ES chapters.
  • Familiar with Hydrology and Modelling software.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare risk assessments, site walk-overs, surveys.
  • Write Flood Risk Assessments, ES chapters, modelling reports, survey specs, fee proposals.
  • Build & run hydraulic models including stabilisation & calibration.
  • Engage with regulators, authorities, stakeholders & clients.
  • Manage time / budgets, mentor junior staff.

UK flood-risk & drainage policy knowledge
Strong written & verbal communication
Organisation
Multidisciplinary teamwork experience

Education

Relevant degree (Geography, Earth/Environmental Sciences, Engineering)
