Job summary

A reputable manufacturing company in Barnsley is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to lead the site safety agenda. This role involves developing a culture of safety compliance within a high-volume manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, strong knowledge of UK legislation, and experience in influencing safety culture across various levels of the organization. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are crucial, alongside a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in a manufacturing, industrial, engineering, chemical or similar fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Experience leading within a large single-site operation is highly desirable.
  • Proven background influencing culture change and improving safety performance.
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the site's overall Health, Safety & Environment strategy.
  • Act as the site's principal HSE advisor.
  • Drive a proactive safety culture through coaching and training.
  • Manage internal and external audits for HSE certification.
  • Oversee environmental controls covering waste and emissions.
