Overview

We are seeking a committed and experienced Senior Housing Officer to join a Housing Services team within a forward-thinking local authority in Devon. This is a vital role responsible for the day-to-day management of the Council's residential housing stock, primarily a block of 9 self-contained flats used for emergency accommodation. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality housing management and tenancy support services, ensuring safe, compliant, and well-maintained homes for those experiencing homelessness. Working closely with the housing advice team, you\'ll support residents to stabilise their lives and move on to long-term, sustainable accommodation.

Key responsibilities
  • Managing tenancy sign-ups, terminations, rent accounts and low-level arrears.
  • Conducting property inspections, fire safety and compliance checks.
  • Liaising with contractors for responsive repairs and maintenance.
  • Supporting tenants with tailored support plans and signposting to relevant services.
Who we\'re looking for

You will be an empathetic and resilient housing professional with a strong background in tenancy and property management, ideally within temporary or social housing. You\'ll have sound knowledge of housing legislation, safeguarding, and compliance, with excellent communication and organisational skills.
