Job description
Overview

Our client is a global industry leader whose diverse expertise enables them to innovate, collaborate towards sustainable design solutions for a diverse range of projects of all sizes, from complex urban developments to impactful neighbourhood initiatives in sectors like education, healthcare, defence, commercial, and residential.

Responsibilities

Designing and managing earthworks and remediation projects, designing and managing site investigation works, supervising drilling rigs, trial pitting, logging, and sampling, writing comprehensive reports, managing projects from start to finish, working as part of integrated project teams and gaining insights into related disciplines like civils, structural, and flood risk, supervising junior staff and mentoring graduates and apprentices.

Qualifications
  • BSc, BEng, or higher qualification in a relevant subject (geology, civil engineering, environmental science, etc.)
  • Membership of a professional organisation (e.g. Geological Society).
  • Strong background in a geo-environmental or geotechnical role, with a proven track record in supervising site investigation works and medium to large-scale earthworks and remediation projects.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant British Standards (e.g., BS5930, BS10175) and Industry Guidance (e.g., EA LC:RM).
  • Ability to soil and ideally core log in accordance with BS5930:2015+A1:2020.
  • An understanding of geology, ground investigation works, contaminated land and geotechnics.
  • Knowledge of typical ground condition interpretation and willingness to broaden understanding of correlation methods applicable to common geotechnical design.
  • Track-record in the supervision, reporting, and management of geotechnical projects and geo-environmental investigation works.
  • Background acting as an NEC Site Supervisor would be a significant advantage.
  • Background in materials management and working under the CL:AIRE Definition of Waste Code of Practice would be beneficial.
  • A strong understanding of Health and Safety requirements for Ground Investigations.
  • An interest in developing, through mentorship and training, an understanding of geotechnical analysis and design of foundations, retaining structures, slope stability measures and earthworks.
  • Excellent technical report writing skills (Desk Studies, Ground Investigation Reports, Remediation and Validation reports, and Coal Mining Risk Assessments).
  • A self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A proactive, independent thinker with an enthusiastic approach to work.
  • A desire to develop technical skills and understanding, with a keen appetite for growth and learning.
  • A full UK Driving Licence.
